Our Father God is always listening. We can pray to Him whoever we are, where ever we are and at any time, day or night – He will hear you.
Prayer doesn’t need to be formal, there are no right or wrong words to use. Just talk to God as you would your best friend, and don’t forget to listen for Him talking to you. You may not hear Him audibly, He shows Himself in different ways – through the Bible, through worship, through friends, through answers.
The best-known prayer is the prayer Jesus taught His disciples. It can be found in the Gospels – here it is as it is written in Matthew’s Gospel:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from the evil one
There are many other references to prayer in the Bible. The book of Psalms is a good place to start.
A few other references are: Colossians 4:2, Ephesians 6:18, James 5:16, 1 Peter 3:12, Philippians 4:6, Acts 10:31
