Under Data Protection legislation the church Charity Trustees of Bloxham Baptist Church are the Data Controller and the Church Secretary acts as our Data Protection Trustee.
We are collecting this information to enable the church to keep in touch with you and provide pastoral support as appropriate. Data Protection legislation allows us to process this information as we regard it as being in the church’s legitimate interest.
Your name and contact details will be entered into our church Master directory which is held on a designated trustee’s computer which is password protected and accessed only by the trustee.
Church Directory: We would like to include your name, address. phone number(s), and email address in our Church Directory which will be distributed by email to all Church Members / regular attenders and in hard copy as appropriate. We will not give copies of the Church Directory to anyone else.
Your contact details will be removed from the directory once you are no longer a member / attendee of the church – unless you ask to remain as one of our “church friends”.
Your details can also be added to our Email list(s) and Birthday / Anniversary list.
Church Email list: This is used by the Ministers and Trustees to circulate official church information (church meeting agendas, details about forthcoming events, prayer requests – with permission etc.) and the weekly What’s On / Prayer Diary to members and regular attenders
Children’s activities Email list: This is for anyone connected with the church or whose children have attended a church run event and is used by the Children’s and Families worker (or designated user) to provide information about relevant events and activities which you might be interested in. We will be issuing a separate policy to cover this
Birthday and Wedding Anniversary Calendar: We would also like to know your birthday (not year) so that we can send birthday / anniversary cards and include your name on the weekly prayer diary ) Designated people within the fellowship have access to this list.
We will NOT share your information with any one else without your prior consent.
You can ask for your details to be removed at any time by contacting the Church Secretary [email protected]
To enable us to provide adequate pastoral support to you and your family, one of the Pastoral Team may record information which may be regarded as sensitive. This information will be stored (in password protected documents) on their computer. This information will NOT be disclosed to anyone else without your consent.
You have the right to ask to see any information we hold about you (including the pastoral support information) by submitting a ‘Subject Access Request’ to the Church Secretary. You also have the right to ask for information which you believe to be incorrect to be rectified. If you are concerned about the way your information is being handled please speak to our Data Protection Trustee. (Church Secretary) If you are still unhappy you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioners Office.
